Event Description

Teams of 2- 4 students will create an interactive website design. The website should explain a topic relevant to their school culture and climate. The final project must be uploaded by 10:00 pm on March 15, 2024to the TOT App Submission Portal.


Common Core Standards

Conduct research projects based on focused questions, demonstrating an understanding of the subject under investigation. Gather relevant information from multiple sources, assess the credibility and accuracy of each source, and integrate the information while avoiding plagiarism. Make strategic use of digital media and visual displays of data to express information and enhance understanding.

Designing and Creating your Project

The process of creating your project should take on the following steps: 

  • Select a topic relevant to their school. 
  • Plan and research the selected topic. 
  • Use website design software to visually display or promote school activity. 
  • Add website elements to provide more information on the topic. 
  • Add your Team Name to the Home Page. 


Technical Requirements

The final project must be presented in the form of an interactive website. Such formats include HTML, website template designs, and Flash. The final project must be uploaded by10:00 pm on March 15, 2024, to the TOT App Submission Portal.T

The finished website must convey a topic relevant to a school’s climate and culture and must include the following components

  • A student created website (Must be no more than 3 pages)
  • A student created quiz or form with at least 5 questions. 
  • 4-5 interactive web links to sites with more information. 
  • Students gathered facts and 5 original images relevant to the selected topic (student must take photos of the selected topic). 
  • Embed website elements such as video, map, calendar, schedule related to the topic.

Live Challenge

Scenario

On the day of the tournament, your team will be given information including pictures and other elements about a business. You will construct a website using the information given to you.  Your team will use the website platform of your choice in your presentation to the judges.

Challenge

  • Create a one-page website (or any web-based software) to represent and analyze the information in a clear and visually appealing way. (NOTE: Weebly and Wix will NOT be accessible to students during Live Challenge)
  • Present your information to the judges.

Time

Your team will have:

  • 45 minutes to create a website, analyze the information and plan a presentation.
  • 5 minutes to present your findings to the judges.

Scoring

6 pts – Team Collaboration while creating a website with the information given.
6 pts – Successfully using the information in a clear and visually appealing way.
6 pts – Explaining your website design to the judges.
6 pts – Creativity of your presentation to the judges.
6 pts – Incorporating all team members into the presentation.

Tips

As with most of the Live Challenge Events, teams will need to be very careful with time management. They should allocate at least a few minutes to review their website and make a plan for how they will present their website to the judges.
